Description
The Decorated Firefish is a slender, dartfish species prized for its elegant shape, vivid coloration, and hovering behavior above rockwork. It is shy but attractive, and does best in peaceful reef aquariums with plenty of hiding places and a secure lid.

Environment
Requires stable marine water conditions, moderate flow, ample rockwork with caves or crevices for shelter, and a tightly covered aquarium to prevent jumping. Best kept in a peaceful, well-maintained reef environment.
Behavior
Generally hovers in the water column near a burrow or crevice and darts to cover when startled. Can jump if frightened and may be territorial toward similar species unless kept as a bonded pair.

Great little fish that is hardy, reef safe, and peaceful. Accepts most foods, can be kept singly or in groups, and stays relatively small. They don't need a big tank as a result of their smaller size, and they also aren't active swimmers like a tang or something of that nature. Usually hovers over one area of the tank where they have their burrow/cave. Be sure to have a lid because they are known jumpers. Other than that, they're an awesome fish for any community reef tank.

Nice fish that adds some color. Haven’t had one jump out on me yet but heard they like to do that. Good eater and now that it is used to my tank it typically sits right out in the open at the front of the tank.
