Description

A tiny, semi-transparent cardinalfish with a silvery-glassy body, faint golden-bronze sheen and a bold red-orange spot on the caudal peduncle at the tail base. It is a slow, hovering, peaceful nano-reef fish that shoals tightly in groups of five or more over branching corals and rockwork, and should never be kept with fast or boisterous tankmates that will outcompete it. Needs a mature, calm reef with plenty of small meaty foods offered several times daily; it is completely coral-safe and ignores sessile invertebrates.

Requires stable saltwater conditions with temperature around 72-78F, pH 8.1-8.4, specific gravity 1.020-1.025, low ammonia and nitrite, and aquascaping with caves, overhangs, and subdued lighting or shaded areas.

Behavior

Peaceful and somewhat shy, especially during the day. It tends to hover in sheltered areas and becomes more active in dim lighting or at night. Can be kept singly or in small compatible groups if given adequate space and hiding places.
