Description
The Yellow Saddle Goatfish, also known as the Goldsaddle Goatfish, is a saltwater fish that is popular in the aquarium trade due to its vibrant yellow coloration and distinct personality. It is known for its ability to change color depending on its mood, and it has a pair of barbels on its chin which it uses to search for food in the sand.
Reef Safe
With caution. While it generally does not harm corals, it will eat small invertebrates which can disrupt a reef tank ecosystem.
Environment
This species requires a large tank with plenty of swimming space. It also needs a sandy substrate to sift through in search of food. The tank should have plenty of hiding places, as this fish likes to hide during the day.
Behavior
This species is active and curious, often seen sifting through the sand in search of food. It is nocturnal, meaning it is most active at night. During the day, it often hides in crevices or under overhangs.
