My alk dipped to 3.8 but I'm working on bringing it up thank God I caught it early. Mostly softies with a few lps.

That clownfish looks happy despite the alk drop! Keep pushing that alk up!

User Avatar @joey1 175d

Thanks man I've had him for 5 years he's moved three times with me over 200 miles haha

Did you double check it? That’s insanely low

User Avatar @joey1 175d

Yes I double checked but I'm going to check today on a fresh batch of salt water to see if my testing is off

User Avatar @hardcorn77 175d

If it’s true then you are going to want to slowly bring it up. Small water changes daily or start dosing soda ash. It’s crazy because I don’t really see anything in your system that would suck it up like that. How low is your ph?

User Avatar @joey1 175d

Just tested my reef crystals and it was showing 6.4 dkh I'm guessing I either have a bad batch of salt or my test kit salifert alk is wrong

User Avatar @hardcorn77 175d

Ya something’s a miss… that stuff normally has a really high alk reading right? What ever you end up using to bring it back just do it slowly.

User Avatar @joey1 175d

Yes 8-10 dkh I'm going to buy another test kit tomorrow

User Avatar @joey1 175d

Dosing alkalinity only by .5 dkh per day till I get back to the 8s

User Avatar @hardcorn77 175d

Good stuff… post up when you figure out what went wrong I’m super curious

User Avatar @hardcorn77 176d

What was your salinity at?

User Avatar @joey1 175d

1.026

User Avatar @joey1 174d

Just posted an update on here

User Avatar @SandyShelf15 175d

good catch man keep grinding!

User Avatar @joey1 174d

Update: my salifert alk test was defective. I tested it on a fresh batch of saltwater and it was still low 6.4 instead of 9 dkh. The Hanna reader tested my water at 7dkh

User Avatar @hardcorn77 174d

That makes for sense because everything looked great in your tank to have an alk reading that low.
