Day eight of the nitrogen cycle. I had a bunch of black plastic around the tank, but I removed it because it was atrocious. Once the tank is cycled, I’ll add copepods and macroalgae. A couple weeks after that, I’ll add the first clowns.

Depending on where you are located, The Local Fish Store in Morton Grove Illinois has a good selection of saltwater fishes, (swimmers) and coral.
Thanks bud! Not quite ready for livestock yet though

Also, I’m following Dr. Tim Hovanec’s advice on the cycle process. The salinity is decreased to 25 PPT (it was supposed to be 20 PPT, but I overshot) and the temp is up to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. To increase the salinity, I’m considering either adding slightly hypersaline water during the first water change, or adding salt in small portions directly to the tank after a standard water change until it hits 35 PPT. If anyone has read this far and has an appropriate recommendation, I’d be grateful to hear it.
Sounds like you're off to a great start and have done a lot of research! For raising salinity slowly I like to top off with saltwater instead of RO water.
Perfect! I appreciate the advice!
