got a hammer coral today and I’m all set to get my tailspot blenny and cleaner shrimp next week! Does anyone have experience with blue tuxedo urchins? I want to get one to help with hair algae but I’m not sure 💜

I love my Tuxedo. It's a great cleaner and very fun to watch. Just be sure to acclimate slowly.

I love it’s hat 💜 how old was your tank when you got yours? My tank is only 3 months old I don’t want to get one too soon, I know they can be temperamental about water parameters

Thank you. It has a Christmas one and a viking one (for when it feels like pillaging other's territory) >_< I have done similar to Brittney. I added mine after 2 months and it's getting big and fat so it must be happy. As mentioned, it feeds on algae or you can feed it nori. They are pretty much self sufficient and don't require much looking after. :)

3 months should be fine as long as you have algae for him to eat. They will also eat nori so worst case if you feel like he’s running out of food you can supplement his diet that way. I put my pincushion in my tank as soon as it was cycled but I did have some rock I transferred from another tank so he had enough algae to graze on. I added my blue tuxedo at month 2 in that tank.

Glue EVERYTHING. His name was a toss up between “Klepto” and “Bogart”. Other than that he is a beast on algae.
