I’m sorry you lost another urchin. From my research urchins are very sensitive to salinity changes, so if your tank was too different from the store you got it from and if you acclimated to quickly it likely shocked the urchin. I’ve had the same thing happen with a cleaner shrimp so I know how you feel. That being said, here is what worked for me with my tuxedo urchin: 1) Float bag for 30 min to an hour to temp acclimate. 2) Drip Acclimate in a container/bucket for minimum 1 hour at 2-3 drops a second (I use accudrip, it’s 10 bucks on amazon and it’s the best acclimation tool) 3) Be checking at 60 minute mark to verify the salinity in the acclimation container matches your tank. 4) Add the urchin. I added by lifting it out of the drip acclimation space slowly as it grabbed onto my glove. Just be careful as they are fragile. I think the main cause of death was the acclimation by filling the bag with the cups. The salinity may have been to different and the salinity change it experienced was likely too fast. It needs to acclimate slowly to succeed. I wish you luck if you choose to try again. Urchins are fantastic creatures and I hope you can find success in the future with them. Poor guy 😢 if this is shortly after you added him I would follow the instructions set out by @maxb. I see your salinity is low though I would definitely raise it SLOWLY. Too low for urchins in my opinion. I keep mine around 1.025. But if he’s been in there a while it’s a good chance he needs access to more food. I have algae for grazing on my rocks but my pincushion loves nori also.

I just put him in there, he was gone by today.. I need to update my parameters just haven’t had the time to test it yet.
