does anyone else have issues keeping their pH above 8? Mine is just hardlocked at 7.8 and even when adding buffers the pH went from 8.1-8.2 right back down to 7.8 in under a day.

I’ve been dosing 180ml of kalk a day and now reading 8.8ph 480 calcium 1500 magnesium in a 120 gallon. I’d recommend kalk but monitor closely.
What salt are you using? I’m using Red Sea blue bucket and I’ve been locked at 7.8 for a year. Haven’t had any bad experiences running 7.8 so it shouldn’t be a problem if the ph stays consistent
im using instant ocean reef crystals. Ive never exactly had any corals die from the pH, but i am concerned on how itll affect my lps. My duncans seem to be doing incredibly well and growing multiple new heads, im more concerned it will affect my torch’s progress. Rn im trying pointing the wavepump up towards the surface to increase surface agitation, my tank water seemed pretty stagnant. I may also swap out for a more powerful pump. I want to test out more mechanical methods of raising pH before i try any more chemical solution
I was having the same problem. I purchased a CO2 scrubber, air pump and long air stone (I don’t use a protein skimmer, just filter roller and a large fuge). I also switched from All For Reef to Kalkwasser for my primary dosing. I can finally get my pH up to 8.3, but I average 8.2 which is fine for me. I still dose All For Reef, just a smaller amount.
I keep my tank in my room which is pretty small, so something as simple as opening a window allowed my PH to go from 7.8 to 8.0-8.1, during the summer it’s harder for me to keep the window opened due to high temps and having the A/C on, my PH drops back down to 7.8 and I don’t notice anything bad happening with my fish, inverts or corals with that PH
Yeah i tried the windows open method as im also in a small enclosed room. Opened both my windows for abt a whole day with fans running and no change. my pH isnt killing anything i just want it to be more optimal

Did you try a different test kit? Do you test at the same time a day? Do you use kalkwasser? Calcium reactor? If you are not using kalkwasser, my recommendation would be to dose that into your tank. It will help you raise ph as well as Ca and Kh. Hope my comment helped you just a bit.
I used the same test kit both times. im gonna talk to my local reef store guy, i didnt test at same time of day cus i wanted to get a read on how fast my pH was dropping and i tested yesterday at a time where id be at work today. Ive heard a lot of recommendations of kalkwasser and ill look into it. Id have to see abt calcium reactors as well but rn i need to get my calcium and alk tested, ill be buying a reef test kit as well.
