Description

A tiny, semi-transparent dwarfgoby with a red-orange to pinkish body, a bright neon-blue or white lateral stripe, and a distinctive dark/black patch along the belly and abdomen. It is a perching, hop-and-rest fish that spends its time on live rock, coral branches and Acropora thickets, is completely peaceful, and will not bother corals or ornamental invertebrates. Best kept in small, mature nano systems with plenty of rockwork, low-flow perching spots and no larger predatory tankmates (even a hawkfish, dottyback or larger wrasse will eat it); it needs frequent small feedings of tiny meaty foods and copepods to stay conditioned.

Environment

The Blackbelly Dwarfgoby thrives in a well-established tank with plenty of hiding places. They prefer a tank with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. They are a tropical species and require a consistent water temperature.

Behavior

This species is peaceful and tends to keep to itself. It spends most of its time hiding amongst rocks and crevices, coming out to feed. It is not known to be aggressive towards other fish.
