Description

Jellyfish are fascinating creatures that have been around for over 500 million years. They are free-swimming marine animals with umbrella-shaped bells and trailing tentacles. The bell can pulsate to provide propulsion for highly efficient locomotion. The tentacles are armed with stinging cells and may be used to capture prey and defend against predators.

Environment

Jellyfish need a specific type of tank called a kreisel tank which keeps them in suspension. Water temperature, salinity, and pH levels need to be carefully monitored.

Behavior

Jellyfish are not active swimmers, they mostly drift in the ocean currents. They are also solitary creatures, they do not live in groups.
