Description

The Orange Shoulder Tang is a vibrant, tropical saltwater fish known for its striking colors and unique patterns. As a young fish, it is bright yellow with an orange spot near the base of its pectoral fin. As the fish matures, the body darkens to a deep, bluish-green and the orange spot expands to cover the majority of its body, giving it its name.

Reef Safe?

Yes, but with caution. While they usually do not harm corals, they may graze on some invertebrates.

Environment

This species thrives in a large aquarium with plenty of hiding spots and room to swim. They prefer a well-lit tank with strong water movement to mimic their natural coral reef environment.

Behavior

Orange Shoulder Tangs are generally peaceful but can be territorial, especially with other tangs or similar-shaped fish. They are active swimmers and need plenty of open space.
