Description

The Yellow Head Sleeper Goby is a fascinating saltwater fish with a striking appearance. It has a bright yellow head and a white body with a series of horizontal and vertical stripes. This fish is known for its sand sifting behavior and is a popular choice for many aquarists.

Reef Safe

Yes. This species is considered safe for reef tanks as it does not harm corals or invertebrates. However, its sand sifting behavior can sometimes disturb the placement of corals and other tank inhabitants.

Environment

The Yellow Head Sleeper Goby prefers a tank with plenty of live rock for hiding and a sandy substrate for sifting. It needs a tightly fitted lid as it is a good jumper. It can adapt to a range of lighting conditions but prefers dimmer lighting due to its nocturnal nature.

Behavior

This saltwater fish is known for its unique sand-sifting behavior, which helps to keep the tank clean. It is a peaceful species but can be territorial with other gobies. It is also nocturnal, so it tends to be more active during the night.

This fish was always pretty active in my tank and it could always be seen sifting sand. Was out almost all of the time in the bottom of my tank. Cool looking fish. Just make sure it is getting enough food to the bottom so it has plenty to eat.

I got this fish wanting something that wouldn’t mess with my diamond goby but could pick up some of the weight of turning the sand over because my diamond goby was only getting one side of the tank. It worked out pretty well and I’ve learned to love the little guy. They swim around and are much more active than watchman gobies. Would buy again.
