Environment
Requires a large, stable saltwater aquarium with strong filtration, excellent water quality, ample live rock or rock structures for hiding places, open swimming space, and a secure lid. Typical tropical marine conditions with temperatures around 72-78 F, salinity 1.020-1.025, and pH 8.1-8.4 are suitable.
Behavior
Territorial and predatory. It will consume smaller fish and ornamental crustaceans, may defend caves or rockwork, and usually does best with other large, robust tankmates.
