Description
The Red-banded Cardinalfish is a small nocturnal marine fish with a silvery body marked by distinct red to orange horizontal bands and large reflective eyes adapted for low light. It is commonly found hovering quietly among rockwork, caves, and reef crevices, and is valued for its calm nature and attractive striped appearance.

Requires a stable saltwater aquarium with plenty of live rock, caves, and shaded hiding places. Prefers tropical marine conditions with good water quality, gentle to moderate flow, and typical reef temperatures and salinity.
Behavior
Generally shy and most active at dusk and during the night. It prefers to hover near shelter and may hide during bright daylight. Can be kept singly or in compatible groups if adequate space and hiding places are provided.
