Description
Vlaming's tang is a large, active surgeonfish prized for its sleek silvery-gray body, lyre-shaped tail, and the ability to change coloration with mood and age. It is a strong open-water swimmer that becomes very large in captivity and needs substantial space.
Reef Safe
Yes
Environment
Requires a very large, well-oxygenated marine aquarium with strong water movement, stable water quality, ample swimming room, and rockwork for grazing and shelter. Best kept in established systems with temperatures around 72-78F, salinity 1.023-1.025, and low nitrate levels.
Behavior
Active and constantly swimming, generally spends much of its time in open water and may become territorial toward similar tangs or other large herbivores as it matures.

Seeing this fish and how large they get is truly amazing, what they lack in color they make up in personality as they are a very social fish. The one my dad and I kept tended to be pretty aggressive so keep this in mind.
