To all that dose all for reef. Why would my alkalinity drop with no change in Calcium with AFR dosing?

I have the same question lol

Tropic marin stated they pretty much go hand in hand. I had a drop from 8.5 to 7.8 in seven days with no change in calcium levels

My alk dropped to 7.9 from 9 while calcium went up from 400 to 450ish

Are you testing at the same time each day? ALK will vary based on the time of day

User Avatar @Reefzilla 272d

Roughly the same time. Could vary by an hour or two. I test alk weekly and this is the first time its dropped this significantly.

I switched to AFR and I do need to also dose extra kh. Dose AFR based on calcium and add extra kh for the difference. My corals look great

That's what I'm leaning towards right now as I'm noticing after more testing dosing only AFR I'm having to constantly adjust my dosing as the corals are growing faster (good problem lol). What are you using to supplement your kh?

huh weird, maybe coral demand?

Some tanks just burn thru alk faster. What corals you got in there?
