Starting to prep for an upcoming vacation away from the reef tank and trying to automate as much as I can so I can save family members some trips… I got my ATO set up and testing for a few weeks to dial it in. Does anyone have any recommendations for auto feeders? Im still going to have someone stop over to check the tank but thinking of ways to try and save them some time too.

Hey @kellbells08421. This is exactly the stuff I worry about too. I just got my ATO dialed in and tested for weeks so I can relate. Excited for you getting this sorted! A few things that helped me and some questions so I can try to give better tips. Quick questions first. How long will you be gone. What kind of fish do you have. Any big LPS that get target fed or picky carnivores that need frozen stuff.
First time being away from the tank and I’m so nervous bc it’s come so far! We’re only going to be gone a week, and I have just 2 clowns, a TSB, crabs, shrimp and CUC. I have them all on BRS pellet food and seaweed pellets mainly, and give algae wafers or nori as a special treat 1-2x week. After vacation I plan to introduce mysis. I also have two new LPS corals that I’ve been spot feeding twice a week with coral food. Some I think I can automate to a point I hope but my biggest worry with auto feeders is if it can overfeed. But definitely not opposed to trying them if it helps keep having someone stop over twice a day all week

I use this auto feeder and feeding rings on all my tanks. Auto feeder drops the food into the ring. The ring makes sure the food stays in place and doesn’t go in your overflow. The fish learn pretty quick to eat from it. Usually takes 2-3 days. Auto feeder - https://amzn.to/410LOw2 Feeding ring - https://amzn.to/4lHvHv3
Awesome thank you so much!!
