Rescued this foxface from PETCO (they were going to put him down so just gave him to me). He is quite emaciated, you can see his poor bones. He’s in quarantine right now. The past two days he’s gotten garlic soaked seaweed, flakes and frozen variety. He’s eating some but not much. Started prazi today in case he has internal parasites. Really wishing I could get him to eat more! Any suggestions are appreciated 😊

I hope the big guy pulls through, I stop buying fish from petco. There saltwater fish always in poor conditions. About 3 months ago I bought a Flame Angel and the fish had ick. A couple days ago I went back for some supplies and I seen a BTA melted and left in the tank, so sad.
Yeah I mostly buy my fish from my LFS but I have dogs and cats so I’m always at PETCO and I’ve gotten like one fish from them before. They know I have a big saltwater tank so they gave him to me for free because they were going to put him down and I offered to try to save him.
Do you know what’s causing the sickness?
No. PETCO received him in this condition. They got him on Wednesday and I got him on Thursday. He wasn’t eating for them and they were going to put him down on Friday but they gave him to me to try to save him. He is eating for me but not much. No signs of ich or velvet. He’s not lethargic or breathing heavy. He hides a lot (as expected) but he does come out and swim around too. He camouflages well and goes back to bright yellow so no issues there. He’s just VERY skinny. Trying to minimize stress so I didn’t copper treat. I tried getting him to eat garlic soaked foods for a few days before dosing the prazi because I know that can suppress appetite and wanted to get as much nutrition in him as I could before dosing. I dosed the prazi Sunday morning.
If you had not tried putting some garlic extract in his food
Update: he didn’t make it 😢

My foxface took 3 days before it started eating nori then did great. They also are just an extremely skittish fish. Putting in PVC or places to hide will make it more comfortable.
That makes me feel better haha.
