If I wanted to switch my substrate to crushed coral instead of sand how would I do so without messing stuff up? It’s just an idea I’m having but I’m 100% sure if I want to do that or not.

I wouldn’t.I had crushed coral and it’s a nightmare to keep clean and vacuum.

Good to know! Thanks!

The process is also as pain staking as is it is risky. You'd want to slowly over multiple waterchanges siphon out as much of your sand as possible without stirring it all into the water column. This would also result in a sharp decrease in both bacteria and pod populations. Really messes with your microbiology as a whole. Crushed coral does have it's benefits but as it buffers more then sand in a small tank it may be tricky to follow it especially if you plan to dose in the future!

Okay nvm then, that sounds like a lot lol. I don’t want to mess anything up, I’ll stay with the sand and little tiny bit of crushed coral that’s in there. Thanks!
