Nothing is wrong with your toadstool. They do that every 4-6 weeks for a day or so, sometimes a week to shed. They will start showing a waxy skin, which will come off. Use a pipette to help it by blowing water across it. Totally normal.

Here is my leather garden. They all do it. Like clockwork. They come back bigger.

Yeah mine just did it. Took two weeks. Got brown gunk that reminded me of diatoms. That crud fell off. Now toadstool is back and happy.

Mines perked up a bit, had to move the hermit that was bothering it out tho

If everything else is looking good and your parameters haven’t moved drastically, it’s about to shed. Give it a week and see if it’s back to normal.
