Has anyone ever used this type of UV sterilization for Algea? If so, should I put it in the display or sump?

Had one on my 55gal in the sump but didn’t notice it did much. I just got a used 25W Aqua Classic for my 175gql and plan to plumb it in asap

I put one recently in my red sea 170reefer I bought it on Amazon very inexpensive around $40. Does a great job. I’ve had no problem with all since I put it in water is crystal clear

where in your red sea 170 did you put it?

In the tank it has suction cups on it , I put it against the back of the tank so you hardly notice it right below the overflow so it gets plenty of water movement.

I have that same one and LOVE IT! Wish someone would’ve told me about it sooner. I have the UV light set to be on for 8 hours and then turns off automatically.

Does it help with green hair algea?

Not that I have notice but my water has never been clearer. I do have 4 emerald crabs and a pincushion urchin as part of my clean up crew so I think they take care of most the hair algae along with my scribbled rabbit fish.
