Description
A large Western Atlantic angelfish with an overall aqua-blue to olive body, yellow scale margins, and bright yellow fin edges and tail; juveniles are dark with vertical pale-blue and yellow bars and look nothing like adults. It is a bold, confident centerpiece fish that grows very large and becomes territorial toward other angelfish, so keep one per system in a spacious FOWLR tank with heavy rockwork, caves, and open swimming lanes. Its natural sponge-based diet means it will graze on LPS, SPS, clam mantles, and other sessile inverts, making it unsuitable for most reef displays.
