Hey all. 15G nano and I can’t keep mangroves alive. I tried three different suppliers (seedlings and ones with leaves). I’m putting it in my built-in backflow with light for 12 hours. After a few days, they get squishy and then dry up. What am I doing wrong?

Temp: 78

Nitrates: 10-15

Phosphate: .05

Salinity: 1.025

pH: 7.9

Thanks!

I don't know what to make of picture 2. Is it by your light mount? How far into water are you putting it? Spray or wipe with rodi water. This could be due to factors like improper water conditions, temperature shock, or a weak specimen.  Try to put it in a cup or vase in the windowsill with light. Bit of sand. Try to recover.

Ask the supplier about their growing conditions, were they grown in saltwater or freshwater? If saltwater, what salinity were they grown in? If they were grown in freshwater, they will need to be slowly acclimated to saltwater over the course of a month or two. If they were grown in saltwater with a lower sg. value than your tank water, they will need to be acclimated to tank water aswell. Best way to acclimate is to dose tank water into their enclosure until the salinity matches.

What light spectrums are you using?
