Description
The Blue Gudgeon Dartfish is a slender, torpedo-shaped reef fish with a white to pale front half and vivid blue to purple rear body and tail. It is an active midwater hoverer that relies on a secure burrow or rock crevice for shelter and is prized for its graceful swimming and striking coloration.
Reef Safe
Yes
Environment
Requires stable marine water quality, plenty of open swimming space, and secure rockwork with caves or crevices for retreat. Best kept in a covered aquarium with moderate water movement and a peaceful environment.
Behavior
Generally spends time hovering in the water column above a chosen retreat and will dart quickly into cover when startled. It is known to jump if frightened, so a tight-fitting lid is important.
