I really want to get rid of the circled rock and get some new rock for this side of the tank. Should I put new rock in the tank and let it build bacteria before taking out this rock? How would you go about it? I do have a pretty large sump the new rock could go in for now if that's recommended

There's so much other bacteria in your tank and so few fish it will hardly matter at all if you do or don't remove it.
