Question! I’ve been dosing R2R for a couple weeks now and got my alkalinity, mag and calcium pretty dialed in after some trial and error and daily testing. My PH has been running on the high side, about 8.6 average with sometimes Hanna blinking so might be a little more than that. Everything seems happy, would you do anything to lower it a little? Been doing some reading and maybe simply changing positioning of the wave maker and pumps to get more surface agitation or would adding a protein skimmer help?? Welcome to any suggestions! Thanks!

🤔🔧
Did some more testing… PH is decreasing to 8.1 in the am, and increasing to 8.6 by the evening. When I dose, bc I have it dialed in to 2.5 mg a day, I dose in the morning. I’m trying two changes right now… adjusted the filter powerhead up a little for more surface agitation, and splitting the dose in half and doing one in the morning and the remainder in the evening. We shall see!!
What is R2R ?
I meant All For Reef, I couldn’t figure out how to edit my post after I realized I called it the wrong thing 🤪😆
Got it lol
All for reef won’t raise your ph and if it’s staying on the high side during the day you can try only running your skimmer at night. Water agitation will raise the oxygen in the tank that in return can raise your ph.
Ah gotcha! I don’t have a skimmer yet but am starting to shop for one now. I’ll give that a try once I get it set up!
