So sorta related to my last post, but I just bought a 75gallon tank and am going to try to upgrade from a 55. My 55 hasn’t been doing too well so I figured I’d get a tank size I liked before spending money to give it an update. If there’s anything wrong with this pls lmk. Also any suggestions abt upsizing tanks are appreciated 🙏

What specifically isn't going well? Are you transferring everything or setup and new cycle the 75g? Be warned stirring up all the sand bed can be problematic.

Well I’m currently having trouble with hair algae and I don’t want to waste time and energy if it’s going to keep coming back. So I’ve been looking for solutions that will last and I thought about transferring most of the water from the 55 since it’s already cycled. Then I was going to deep clean the rocks somehow and put them in the 75. My fish are still alive but it just doesn’t look good at all. I’m pretty new at all this so feel free to tell me if I’m wrong.

How old is the 55? Could just be going through an ugly stage.

It’s probably around 2 years old

You could also consider the possibility of too much waste/overfeeding. Often times your parameters may look “good” and so people overrule the possibility of overfeeding because things look good on the surface, however all of that nuisance algae is consuming extra nitrates and phosphates as it grows.. causing parameters to appear normal.
