Yesterday my qt tank turned into its own reef tank. I had a local reefer reach out to me that was breaking down his tank and asked if I wanted to take in some live rock with a couple corals attached for free. I get to his house and he shows me his tank and says here it is everything in it is yours. I had to stop by my lfs to get some live sand and set everything up as soon as I got home. I’m thankful I had a spare tank on hand because I don’t know what I would’ve done with everything he gave me. Also set up a small breeding bucket for aiptasia since the live rock came with it. Luckily for me I have plenty of hungry berghia.
24 karat indigo torch I'm trying to let it get better because it started to recede and it's it's in its hospital tank and I just want someone to take it that can take care of it. Just looking maybe for like a little trade. I know it's a high-end torch but looking for trade or some money. It was doing perfect in my tank and then it started to recede and now it's finally getting better but I don't want to put it back in my tank and then start the receding again. I KNOW THIS POST HAS BEEN POSTED RECENTLY IN MULTIPLE FORMS BUT NEED IT GONE.
Looking for trade or any Coral looking for mushrooms and hammers or anything else no SPS
Quarantineing the Tangs before I move them to the new tank. Inplant to add a few new fish before these guy get in there. So this way the new fish have time to establish them selves while the tang gang takes a break.
Very disappointed this week. But I'm trying to bounce back. These are photos of my purple tip hammer and my Xenia coral. I decided last week to do a water change in my display tank and my quarantine tank. The dumb thing that happened on my part. I noticed that I haven't calibrated my refractometer in over a year. So I calibrated the refractometer and found out that it was way off. I did the water change and everything got shocked. The fish are doing good but all my corals are either closed and lost some zoanthids. I took the hammer out of the display tank and put it back in the quarantine tank..😕☹️ don't know if I can get it back.
Great news.. About 3 weeks ago or so. I posted about my Xenia being almost demolished by my urchin and my scrubbing of the GHA. I put it in a little quarantine tank I built. Just took the last 2 pictures today. And the arms are really extended. Looks like it's doing good. Might be making a comeback..🙂
My pom-pom Xenia has been through a lot of havoc. I had a long fight with green hair algae which is gone now. But also I allowed my tuxedo urchin to go over the beautiful Xenia colony I had. And it ripped a lot of it off. This is the only survivor. So I made a little quarantine tank. Trying to get my Xenia to come back. I do see that its little arms are beginning to extend. My lesson: don't let the urchin get on the Xenia corals. Hope this little guy comes back.

Update I removed the corals from the rocks and will prepare to do a hydrogen peroxide dip tomorrow
how do i rehome some potentially ill animals. i cant keep them anymore and i cant really even do this hobby anymore
Bad picture but only one I could get since she went straight into the sand. New bluestar leopard wrasse added to the tank.
The small fry is moving to the bigger tank for a more stable environment 😁

Started cycling my Hello Reef last week, and today I saw my first signs of nitrite!
I’ve been ghost-feeding consistently since day one, and the bacteria are finally kicking in.
I’m thinking about starting to quarantine a few members of the clean-up crew soon.
What do you guys recommend, should I wait a bit longer or start prepping the QT now?
