Hi all…..just wanted to introduce myself and show you my tank that I just started! I have a HOB filter and was thinking of putting a 5.5 gallon sump underneath I just don’t know where to start! Any pointers would be appreciated!

Are you comfortable drilling? An EXT overflow like the ones that Eshopps have could make it work. Otherwise they do have HOB overflows. You could find a baffle kit in ebay for a 10g. Not sure about 5.5 tho.

Tank is already up and running and unfortunately I don’t have room in the stand for a 10 gal!

I have a life reef HOB overflow I’d be willing to part with if you are interested

My problem is the tank width is only 20” wide so I don’t have a lot of room for HOB items as there is already a HOB filter!

An overflow would run to a sump instead of your HOB filter.

My cabinet is also 20” wide so not much room for a sump, trying to figure out how to use a 5 gal as a sump!

Ill be honest with you if you enjoy this hobby you’ll want a bigger tank pretty soon

No can do……I live in a 600 sq foot mobile home. I have a 90 gal saltwater system that is in storage because honestly, this old mobile couldn’t handle all the weight! I miss my saltwater tank so just wanted a small one that would fit in here!

Ah okay good luck!

Thank you

You could make your tank into a aio tank they make kits for this style of tank like that and there supper affective like a sump in smaller tanks
