Hello! This is my first ever saltwater tank and I would love to get any suggestions on testing kits for trace minerals.

I prefer salifert

Or you can send off a icp test which has everything in depth

Got it thank you !

I use Hannah for Alkalinity. And then Salifert for Magnesium and Calcium. Looks like some happy clowns!

Thank you!! They are super active and love to see the yellow container of food coming their way 😂

Here’s what I use and like Alkalinity-Hannah (1 minute test) Calcium-red sea (5 min) Mag- Aquaforest (5 min) Nitrate- Nyos (7 min) Ph , nitrite, ammonia - API (very easy and no need for crazy accuracy)

Thanks for the suggestions! I have the Api set currently for this tank and the freshwater version for my fancy goldfish tank; that are definitely very easy to use.

I dont recommend using that for salt water, go for salifert or aqua forest, cheap and good

Alkalinity: I use salifert since I test alk almost daily just for any swings and not so much for pinpoint accuracy Nitrates/Po4: I use Hannah because using salifert means you have the eyeball the color Ca, Mg: I use a mix of salifert/hannah but not very often since when you achieve stability after a while you just need to test alk since ca/mg usually follows suit when alk is stable. Your tank is relatively new judging by the white dry rocks, I started the same way. Be ready for the ugly phase - diatoms first then crazy hair algae. Dino’s after, if you’re like me. After the gauntlet though, you’ll find the hobby to be very relaxed. Don’t forget to test often starting out!

Thank you! Yeah, I’m going through it now. I keep fancy goldfish too so at least I’m used to the regular upkeep of the tank especially since it’s at a smaller scale (only a 15g). I might get some more critters this week to help eat away at it.
